Meet Robyn Lufazema

Robyn Lufazema

We would like to introduce Robyn to you, and for you to get to know the journey that led to her becoming part of the Catalyst Foundation – S.H.E Programme, a little bit more. Robyn joined the Catalyst Foundation – S.H.E Programme in 2023, as one of our beneficiary’s from the Chibombo district in Zambia. Her favourite subject at school is English, and her least favourite is learning Chitongo (one of Zambian’s local languages). Robyn’s hobbies include reading novels. Before joining the S.H.E Programme, Robyn had numerous barriers that prevented her from going to school and attaining an education. When she was very young, her father unfortunately committed a crime that resulted in him being arrested and placed in jail. As a result of her father’s wrongdoing, Robyn’s mother was financially unable to look after her, along with her six siblings.

One of the teacher’s at the school that she attends, who is one of Robyn’s father’s brothers, decided to adopt her and take her under his wing. Her siblings relocated to different villages, where distant relatives live. Despite being able to go to school every day, Robyn’s uncle is unable to fully provide her with her basic needs. She does not have access to stationery supplies, textbooks or a school uniform, making her feel insecure.

After meeting Robyn’s teachers at her school, we found out that her academic ability was exceptional, and is one of the top students in her class. She is a really hard worker, and has a strong passion to be educated. Her teachers believe that with Catalyst Foundation’s support, she has the potential to accomplish phenomenal results in her exams and achieve great things in her future.

Through our holistic support provided to Robyn, we were able to remove all of her barriers, allowing her to go to school and continue with her education. We provided her with new school uniforms, shoes, a school bag, stationery, textbooks, exercise books, sanitary wear and family food hampers. Our health check examinations carried out, identified that Robyn had a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). From this analysis, we were able to address this issue, and now she is perfectly healthy.  Robyn’s uncle now has peace of mind, knowing that all of her needs are taken care of by the Catalyst Foundation.

Since joining the S.H.E Programme, Robyn has transformed into a confident individual, and is motivated to continue studying hard to complete her studies with flying colours. Once she finishes her secondary schooling, she has dreams of going to university to become a Doctor.

We asked Robyn to share with us what the

Catalyst Foundation – S.H.E Programme means to her:

“I have always loved going to school. Now that I have all my basic supplies to use for my schoolwork, I am going to try my best to reach my full potential, and make my uncle proud, by becoming a Doctor one day.”
