Kudzai Magaya

S.H.E. Programme Events
and Advocacy Coordinator

We would like to introduce to you and for you to get to know Kudzai, one of our key team members, a little bit more.

Kudzai currently resides in Harare, Zimbabwe and joined the S.H.E Team in 2022. Kudzai has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to girl-child empowerment. She is a holder of two Bachelor of Arts degrees – the first being in Social Science and the second for Anthropology, where she achieved an Honours in. Kudzai continued her studies and achieved her Masters in Child Sensitive Social Policies. Kudzai has also been part of numerous other organisations that are centred around the girl-child, where she was responsible for various roles.

We asked Kudzai to share with us more information about herself and her experiences so far as part of the Catalyst Foundation Team:

“Working as part of the S.H.E Team has been really fulfilling, as it has given me a sense of belonging and I am proud to call S.H.E my second home. The Team that I work alongside were very welcoming when I first joined, they are dedicated to everything that they do and they are very passionate about girl-child empowerment. It’s a great honour to be part of a Team that is journeying towards a world where girls in education is commonplace!

My roles within the S.H.E Programme have definitely challenged me, but they have pushed me to step out of my comfort zone. I have learnt many new things, I have gained a lot confidence, and I have most importantly, learnt to believe in myself a lot more.

Working alongside our beneficiaries has been emotional at times, but really fulfilling and inspiring. I have learnt so much from them, especially the power of resilience and dedication. Despite all the challenges that our girls have been through, they do not let their challenges bring them down – they are able to show up to school with smiles on their faces, work as hard as they can, with many of them achieving the ‘Top Five’ positions in their class and even some becoming Prefects.

Looking into Catalyst Foundation’s future, I am excited to potentially see the S.H.E Programme continue growing across Africa – creating greater impact beyond borders. To all of our beneficiaries, remember – when the road gets tough, don’t change your dream, rather change your shoes, and keep going!”
