In countries like Zimbabwe and Zambia, the adolescent birth rate remains stubbornly high, with a significant number of girls becoming mothers before the age of 18. This early motherhood often forces them to abandon their education, perpetuating a cycle of poverty that is incredibly difficult to break. It’s a double-edged sword: without proper schooling, a girl is not only denied the chance to reach her full potential but is also left vulnerable to a world she is unprepared to navigate.

Menstruation itself is often a topic shrouded in taboo, leading to girls being seen as ‘impure’ or ‘dirty’.
