Gire was unable to consistently go to school, due to her family struggling to pay her school fees, purchase new uniforms, stationery and textbooks. Travelling to school daily was also a struggle for her, as she had to walk a very long distance to and from school every day, making her really tired and unable to fully focus on her studies.
Through our holistic support provided to her, we were able to remove all of Gire’s barriers, allowing her to go to school and continue with her education. We provided her with a bicycle, which now allows her to travel to school quicker and stress free. We were also able to identify, through our health check examinations, a few health issues that Gire had, such as an Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), and high levels of protein in her urine. From this analysis, we have now addressed all of these issues, and now she is perfectly healthy. Gire’s family can now have three daily meals, and they have peace of mind, knowing that her needs are taken care of, when it comes to her education.
Due to the additional support that we offer to Gire’s family, their farming projects have become more successful, with the Catalyst Foundation providing them with seeds for their nutritional garden and horticultural productivity. We have also helped them with deepening their water well so they can water their crops, without any worries of the water running out. As a result of this additional support, they are now able to provide for Gire’s siblings and meet their basic needs.
Once Gire finishes her secondary schooling, she has dreams of going to university or joining a programme that will help train her to become a Soldier, as she would love to offer her service to Zimbabwe.
We asked Gire to share with us in one sentence what the
Catalyst Foundation – S.H.E Programme means to her:
“When I grow up, I would like to be a role model, and assist others who don’t have much, like how the Catalyst Foundation helped me.”
