“Having joined the media industry in 2015 as a photographer, I have managed to tell impactful stories locally and internationally. I am driven by a passion to reflect on the socioeconomic issues of my community. Growing up as a double orphan, it has made me see and understand life differently, to appreciate and cherish every moment, every person, and every opportunity.
Being part of the Catalyst Foundation – S.H.E Programme Team has been fulfilling because I get to work with a Team dedicated to giving hope, security and empowering the young individuals, who once used to be me, who are vulnerable in rural communities, across Africa. Often a time, I see myself in our beneficiaries’ shoes and I take every opportunity that I can get to try and uplift them, because the situation they are in is nothing different from mine a few years ago. This connection that I have with our S.H.E girls has made it easier for me to tell their impact stories, through a picture or documentary.
Seeing the S.H.E programme expanding across Africa, within a short space of time excites me a lot and motivates me to continue doing what I do. Every time I think of our beneficiaries, I picture two girls – one from Zambia and the other from Zimbabwe. These two girls sat down with the CEO of Catalyst Foundation and spoke to her about their stories and challenges. These were really inspiring stories and it led to our CEO making the decision to have them join the Programme. The faith and determination that these two beneficiaries showcased is really inspiring.
To our beneficiaries, make the most of this opportunity that you have been granted because this is an opportunity that many vulnerable girls can only dream of. Put your current challenges aside, work hard and do your best in everything that you do because, before you realize it, they will all be history.”
