Kumbirai Mutsindikwa

S.H.E. Programme Field Officer for Beatrice (Zimbabwe) District

We would like to introduce to you and for you to get to know Kumbirai, one of our key team members, a little bit more.

Kumbirai currently resides in Beatrice, Zimbabwe and joined the S.H.E Team full-time in 2023. Kumbirai has a wealth of knowledge concerning girl-child and empowerment, and has been part of the S.H.E Programme as a volunteer since 2021.

We asked Kumbirai to share with us more information about herself and her experiences so far as part of the Catalyst Foundation Team:

“Being part of the Catalyst Foundation – S.H.E Team has been exciting and fulfilling for me. I respect all my colleagues tremendously, and I regard them as my second family. Working alongside our beneficiaries has allowed me to discover a lot of things about myself that I did not even know. The love and dedication within the S.H.E Team have made me a better person, and working every day through my role, to put a smile on a beneficiary’s face has given me so much satisfaction in such a way that I’m looking forward to what the future holds. The various duties that I have carried out and helped with, from my time as a volunteer to now full time, has helped me work on my self-confidence and improve my character.

Often at times whilst interacting with our S.H.E girls, I find it very emotional, but challenging, in a good way, as it requires me to be very creative, patient and play so many roles at the same time, for example being a mum, a sister and a friend to them. For someone who grew up within an environment very similar to our beneficiaries, it has enabled me to understand them well, and the various challenges that they are going through. Having this mutual understanding has helped me to connect with each beneficiary in a special, unique way,

Looking into the Catalyst Foundation – S.H.E Programme’s future, I am most excited about seeing the Programme going global, possibly having our own schools and empowering more vulnerable girls to reach their full potential.

To our beneficiaries, I would like to encourage you to believe in your dreams and work extra hard to make them come true. Count yourselves lucky and blessed to be receiving the holistic support through the S.H.E Programme, and work towards making your parents, caregivers and the Catalyst Foundation proud.”
